Lindsey Log Wagon Replica. The Estate of "Bobby Franklin "Skeeter" Pierce.

The Story:

Bobby Franklin "Skeeter" Pierce fondly remembered stories about his father driving a Lindsey 8-Wheel Log wagon drawn by mules. When he retired in 1997 he decided to build one. During the process, he visited with Mrs. Lindsey in Laurel MS and she gave him 8 center hubs which began the process. Mrs. Lindsey was the widow of the man who started Lindsey Log Wagons. Also during this journey, he found an old 8 wheel wagon in the woods rotting near Cane Creek, Holcomb, MS and salvaged iron to use.

Then, he reclaimed a white oak tree downed by wind at Grenada Lake and he utilized his sawmill to plane the lumber for his wagon creation. His cohort in the build was Mr. Tincy Gant and they worked two years building the wagon. Mr. Gant and Mr. Pierce were experts in forging and bending the metal bands for the wheels. Their hard work resulted in a timeless piece that all started from the memorable stories his father told about logging when the pines grew tall, straight and plentiful.
